I been playing the early access for a few days now. Not much to work with in terms of maps but plays EXACTLY like Unreal Tournament 3. :leostare: (I'm not complaining about it but the familiarity just got me like :dwillhuh:.)

I see the game may have a lane now since Quake Live kinda killed itself since it's got load outs now like every modern FPS and the root players aren't too happy about that :skip:.

You guys think arena FPS can come back on PC with this and Unreal Tournament 4 coming back?

Definitely a UT clone and seems like a good one at that...

Arena FPS have become a niche market...On consoles these games will never prosper because consoles are basically the special Olympics of gaming...Developers need to add crutches like aim help to assist the weak and these games are not meant for those kinds of players...It's why the COD franchise turned to complete shyt, too many crutches to compensate for the influx of shytty casual console players...Arena FPS games can't really do that because they always been about separating the wolves from the sheep...

On PC we could see a comeback but only a true UT game developed for PC can do that...EPIC so far is on the right path to that by allowing the fans to create UT4...

I still fukks with UT99 for what its worth...

I bought it and Reflex (modern CPMA remake) yesterday. I fukks with both. Reflex a tad more

I agree with @The Fukin Prophecy that these wont prosper on consoles cause of handicaps a controller brings and every time a dev brings m/kb to a console game, the controller players complain and usually the m/kb and controller players usually get separated, thus defeating the point

Cant wait to see Toxikk and Reflex grow and hopefully Arena shooters make a comeback on pc

Not really feeling it, feels way too much like UT3 and not 2K4. It's admirable though, and I can see it getting quite the lifespan if they go the UT '15 route.

Man, Arena FPSes are coming back. Bluestreak, UT, Toxikk, Reflex, DOOM. Now all we need is Quake Live to not be so ass and we're golden :blessed:

i'd love to see console support if consoles supported KB/M. I know Ps4 does but idk about fukkass X1

Sorry guys I wanted to get home to give a full reply.

The game plays great. Very solid, controls feel fluid. Moving around feels great and can cover a lot of distance. You can definitely even feel the similarities in the guns and was kinda hoping for some new concepts but why fukk up what already works? :manny:

I still play UT'99 since I prefer the much more grounded movement compared to quake live and UT2004. As someone who came from Unreal games on the OG Xbox I think they can work but the conditions have to be perfect like no lag and minimal auto-aim.

Not really feeling it, feels way too much like UT3 and not 2K4. It's admirable though, and I can see it getting quite the lifespan if they go the UT '15 route.

Bluestreak? :ohhh: This is my first time hearing of it. This is good news as I seriously thought it was only UT4 and Toxikk out. Toxikk is nice since it has the dodge jump from UT2k4 which works well suprisingly with these UT3 physics. I agree with you about quake live :heh:. If they was going to go the loadout route because I've seen it work well in an Arena FPS they could have nerfed the shotgun and the Lightning Gun a bit more. Bottom Line quake live didn't need loadouts at all and that heavy machine gun they added in is kinda awkward.

I remember UT3 for PS3 having console support with KB/M but the problem with that is the obvious split between console players and the ones who go KB/M.

Reflex? I have to check that game out as well then. I completely agree with your post concerning the split because it's just too obvious to ignore. It's looking like a comeback honestly because Call of Duty never did well on PC after Call of Duty 4. The only PC shooter that is prominent now is Counter-Strike and that has its own lane. I'd say battlefield as well has a strong community.

This new generation of garbage gamers arent ready for twitch/arena shooters.. I mean thats why they abandoned them in the first place cause they were 2 hard to get into and didnt hold your hand like Call of Duty/Battlefield do :yeshrug:

but hopefully they make a come back
