Man, if you got a gaming laptop you're cooking. You can post up in public, play a game, and alt+tab when you don't want people to know what you're doing (I know plenty of cats don't mind though). You can technically socialize and meet brand new people while getting in the next gen on the go. That to me already makes it worth so much more than a console.
You have to have a 1440p monitor to see what games in 1440p look like. You can't see 1440p on a 1080p monitor. But yeah, 1440p is a lot crisper and much better colors

Yeah I noticed that when someone posted a youtube like of Driveclub in 4k & my monitor was fukking up
well you can 'downsample' 1440p to 1080p. I do that for a few games
this thread got me considering investing in Star Citizen
That's the thing with PC's. Their graphical progress is gradual while consoles stay the same all gen. This is a good thing and gives them both advantages.
PC gaming isn't that better now because the new consoles just got released. Just wait 3 years (about halfway through the consoles' lifespans) though and PC gaming will have progressed enough to leave PS4/XBone looking

I like that not because I'll buy some high-end desktop that'll destroy PS4 or anything, but instead to get a mid-end laptop that can play PS4 ports (with decent visual settings) on the go.

Another thing OP that they dont' tell you is you need roughly $2000 to update your PC every few months. Even resident PC gamer @Orbital-Fetus can tell you how expensive rice can be just for cooling.
That's just for AA though, right? You're still not getting the colors and extra pixels by downsamplingwell you can 'downsample' 1440p to 1080p. I do that for a few games

yeah, it's a very brute-force AA method. but it tends to make the whole scene look better, as opposed to MSAA that only affects the geometry
it's definitely not the same thing as native 1440p though

Consoles just closed the gap on visuals. In 2-3 years the gap will be huge again.
I play bf4 on pc and theres an option in the video settings called resolution scale that makes BF4 look so much better. Try that out and you will be blown away.
