I have a AMD GPU and I was wondering what are the benefits of Crossfire? Is it worth it to purchase two GPUs?

Anybody run SLI or Crossfire?

I had crossfire set up a few years ago (2011 or 2012 or so) and had nothing but headaches, but im sure its improved over the years. But most games usually dont have a lot of SLi or crossfire support still til this day because its still not as common. Most people just focus on getting a single GPU

better frame rates and overall benchmarks.
i don't think it doubles your overall GPU performance but it will give you more juice.

Does it have to be the same GPU or can I mix them up for example R9 290x with a 270 etc
I think it has to be the same gpu. Also, since you're running hot and power hungry cards, you'll most likely need a new psu too. Gotta factor that in.

I sli and it's a headache. Some games don't support it for months. But when they do, you get a pretty big performance boost. I always have 2 cards. I also got a 1500 watt corsair psu, so I can go three way in the future.

Damn that means bigger case and more air coolers etc...

definitely. You need a big case and lots of fans, if you're air cooling your cards (especially AMD ones. They run a lot hotter than nvidia cards)

Never dual GPU, just get the strongest card you can afford.

SLI > Crossfire
