US never talked of war when NK tested those nukes, only threat to place stricter sanctions on NK, and North Korea is obviously taking an offensive stance not defensive if they're talmbout nuking US cities whether they're bullshyttin or not.

sanctions are an act of war. most of NKs rhetoric is toward SK (they're still at war). NK is basically warning that if the U.S interferes it will strike it. That sounds pretty defensive to me.

regardless of the fact that China is the largest, SK is a very very important trading partner to NK and vice verse (NK exports 38% to SK). SK have been getting lip from NK because SK is manipulating and using economic tactics to piss them off. A lot of it being political in SK.

When the new Kim was elected, everything was quiet. NK was going through a transition and possible power struggle, officials were being sacked and replaced, policies were being revived. Out of no where SK (and the U.S) decided it was a good idea to conduct military exercises near NK. and sign a new missile defense deal. Also sanctions were renewed which included food for the North Korean people. SK could have easily used the opportunity to extend their hand to the young leader because it was thought (internally) that he was far more liberal and moderate. Instead they postured and showed aggressiveness during a very sensitive uncertain time for NK when people were shytting bricks when Kim Sr died.

This prompted paranoid Kim Jr (because his people were scared, rivals were saying he was weak) to wave his dikk around and make sure north koreans had nothing to worry about. That's around the time he decided it was a good idea to test nukes.

He didn't just come out of no where and say he wanted to bomb the U.S. He said it AFTER the U.S said it would intervene.

That's funny though because the US doesn't hand out sanctions, the U.N. does. There are hundreds of American military bases in South Korea especially near the DMZ. So what the US is doing is actually defensive.
