Its an article from GQ about the theory of peak oil. The orignator of the theory predicted oil production would peak I believe a few decades ago. Detractors of the theory point to the fact that new oil fields are being found all the time, but proponents of the theory believe most of the readily available oil has already been extracted, which is why companies are exploiting the hard to get oil like the Canadian tar sand oil.

Whether peak oil is something to be worried about or not is irrelevant.

Oil is a non-renewable energy source, and that means we should not be reliant on it. Eventually it WILL run out.
