Sure, hire the guy who got fired after starting 14-20 only to see his replacement go 27-11 afterwards. He isn't getting another HC gig for a long time.

Hey man, im told he is a great talent and according to Pop the Hawks had no idea what they were doing by getting rid of him. Id love to see what he can do with another team.

If Zion makes one of the all-NBA teams next season, I don't think he's signing that supermax extension the following offseason.
Pelicans have three more years if Zion kicks the can on re-signing with them to hit UFA

The Pelicans are the only team that can give him the supermax extension as he wouldn't get it if he went anywhere else. No player has ever turned down a max rookie extension and Zion won't either.

It's too early in his career to leave that type of money on the table especially since there have been prior concerns about his knees and how they'd hold up long term.

Can he still sign the supermax the following offseason? If he were to hypothetically get hurt that last year of his rookie deal, I think he's the type of talent that the Pelicans would still give him that supermax. We'll see, it's a lot of money but if NO continues to operate as it has his first two years I don't see him signing anything before he has to. I think there will probably at some point be a player that turns down that rookie extension.

He'd be better served signing the rookie extension the moment it's offered and then trying to force his way out 1-2 years into the deal. He'd still get his bread in the process which is what should matter to him early in his career.

Players don't potentially leave money on the table until their 2nd second when they have higher aspirations of winning a championship.
