Nah man, he wasn't. Gordon had serious health issues and only played nine games for NO before he hit free agency. He never had Harden's all around game either.
Actually Eric Gordon had really good games with New Orleans in April before he signed his contract. He was basically carrying the team.

I'd take A HEALTHY Eric Gordon over Harden. He's much better defender. He doesn't always need the ball in his hand to score. He can still handle the ball if he needs to.

How were they out of their minds. He put up 22 a game on 45% shooting playing next to Blake. Not a huge leap to assume being a clear cut number would bump his points per game up a few points.
And he had legit health issues. He was ALWAYS missing time and still does. I was adament that a max deal for him was crazy from day one and I was right. @tremonthustler1 and I had quite a few back and forths about it.

I agree, I said at the time too that any team was crazy to offer him that money due to his injury history. I'm just saying that it's not all that crazy to have thought he could be a 25 PPG scorer like you was saying. The ability was there. It was just a matter of him staying healthy which his history suggested probably wasn't going to happen.
