The overall impression that I'm getting from the CFB guys I follow on twitter, is that they're glad the ban was ended. The thinking is that it was a criminal matter, not an NCAA matter, and should've been treated as such from the beginning. Instead, they (the NCAA) overstepped their grounds.

I'm not sure if I completely agree with that, seeing as it was covered up for the sole reason of benefitting the school/football program, but I can see the point.

Institutional control means more than just "dont pay players". They had NONE for a LONG TIME and were punished for it

They are collaterial damage. Every player could have transferred with impunity. USC players weren't given that option. When the man/coach/person you idolize is a fukking scumbag and you choose to just follow in their steps still, that's says a lot for you as a person.

if they can punish and entire program for a 1 or a few "student athletes" who take money despite they've already left then they can punish the pedo state program for something way worse that was corrupt from the top all the way down.

You cant blame the kids for not transffering, Most of those kids arnt good enough to just up and transfer to a different team and still get the same playing time they had before.

Just as Michael Sam got feelers on behalf of the NFL. The NCAA isn't going to have schools removing scholarships for these kids. They, above most, would have been taken care of.
