People claim that no one shops at the mall anymore but I went to the mall today and it was packed

Which kills your whole point because records are constantly being broken at the Box Office which shows people are still going to the movies. Why are they still going to the movies? Because like the mall, it's one of the few places people can go and be seen.
Inflation. Very simple. Most of these records are not adjusted for inflation. Also....

Theater Stocks Fall as Box-Office Sales Head Toward a Down Year

The latest “Star Wars” film won’t keep overall box-office sales from slipping in 2019, and the slump is weighing on shares of theater chains.

North American movie ticket sales probably fell by 3.6% in 2019, sliding to $11.5 billion, according to a Comscore Inc. estimates. A string of hits from Walt Disney Co., including “Avengers: Endgame,” “The Lion King” and the newly released “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” didn’t manage to buoy the overall industry.

Shopping malls won't die anytime soon cause no matter how easy it is to shop online people will always want to the store to buy what they want so they can see it before they purchase it. Only reason why Wal-Mart is competing with Amazon is because of brick and mortar stores.

Breh, the line at your local movie theater be long af on weekends when new movies like The Avengers or Star Wars drop. I bet it was long af when Bad Boys 3 dropped.

Believe it or not, people actually like getting out the house to do things. Women still want to be taken on dates despite Doordash and Netflix being so prevalent. Why do they like to be taken on dates? The same reason that malls and movie theaters still exist :sas2:

Well the movie theater really can’t be replicated in most people’s homes and there is course the fact that movies arrive there first.

I’m not sure how much you can been seen sitting in a dark room however.

Women don't get dressed up to go to the movies if they don't intend on being seen. There's always the lobby and the to and fro. They don't wear pajamas to the movies like they do when they go to Walmart early morning :coffee:

Nothing beats a Saturday shopping mall experience. Cop some fresh new clothes, eat at the food court and finish off with a chat with nikkas whilst enjoying some latte and the sights. May the mall never die.

I don’t mind shopping strips as well, going door to door, different stores and walking on the pavement and enjoying that sunshine,

Hopefully people will have enough of online shopping and the malls go back to popping

I think saying that a place to see and be seen isn’t a compelling argument as to why people go to movies.
It's part of it. Even if you could watch new movies at home people would still go to the theaters for the experience. People actually enjoy getting out the house and being around other people.

Your favorite restaurant probably can have your food delivered to you but you still would likely go there. There's a reason sports bars typically stay in business for a long time. There's also a reason people go to sporting events and sit in nosebleed seats when they could have a much better view watching at home and it would be much cheaper and more convenient.

I know most folk here are social misfits and incels but the fact remains that venues that hold a certain social atmosphere will always exist and will always be relevant.

Exactly. Why buy nice clothes if you don't have anywhere to rock them to be seen? Might as well stay in work clothes all day every day.

Well you are kind of getting away from the original point.

Malls as we traditionally know them are dying. Kind of hard to dispute that.

It’s basically two tiers for malls
Malls that are designation malls. Like the grove in LA, king of Prussia in philly, Eaton in Toronto or Lenox mall
You will never step in those malls and see them not busy

the other tier are smaller local malls that are mostly for local shoppers
Ones like echelon mall in nj, or granite run near philly.
They USED to pop and are now ghost towns being keep alive by d&d events and other weird shyt
