You’re making it sound a lot easier than it is. Unemployment websites across the country are struggling due to the sheer number of people trying to access them. Literally go to twitter and type in “unemployment” and see the hundreds and thousands of people having issues. People are being offered ridiculously low amounts of money compared to the wages they made that barely sustained them in the first place. Some people are struggling because employers have given them zero hours but haven’t technically terminated them so they’re having troubles filing.People who have been cut hours but still work 2 or 3 days a week and as such aren’t qualified for unemployment. Independent contractors and freelancers typically can’t get unemployment either. And this is before even trying to navigate and make sure their families are covered via health insurance.

Bottom line: Y’all trying to minimize the stress that folks are going through right now is ignorant and heartless as fukk.

For real. These "bootstraps" heads refuse to talk about the failure of the FEDERAL Government and put the blame on poor people. Thats some Lucifer inspired bullshyt. :hhh:

What state takes 4/6 weeks??? Workshops in the middle of a nationwide crisis where there is a huge group , yeah okay. It takes 5 days in NYC,

Pennsylvania.

Takes an ave of 3 to 8 weeks for the 1st unemployment check to be sent out.

3+ years ago the state laid off half of its Unemployment staff due to budget reasons.

This wait is during normal periods... imagine the backlog in the coming future.

From 2018:

Besides the job cuts that have reduced the number of call-takers, the state curtailed the number of days people can get through to a call center officials to three: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, according to state Department of Labor & Industry spokeswoman Lindsay Bracale. She said the state service centers now process claims on Wednesdays and Fridays.

They keep fukkin around, landlords across the country are about to get slumped cuz you know they not gonna give a fukk about a pandemic

Most people only have cell phones now and also use the internet as a primary source for news and communication, also gonna be due next week for most

Cuttin into food money..... :francis:

These landlords gonna experience a French Revolution pushback, something so fierce that they gonna regret ever being greedy in the first place.

I'm glad that I work in a nurse facility because I know that it will never shyt down and I can keep my checks coming in.

The major issue is that everyone doesnt have the money to keep going to the store to buy food. There are those that get food off they're monthly food stamps but some get more than others and for people that make too much to get it...you gotta spend cash and it can be too expensive to afford especially if you don't have the funds.

I heard what he actually did was pass something that already pays foodstamps and section 8 for April & May.

I was told this, didn't look it up.
Nah. He's trying to take food stamps from people that don't work a certain amount of hours a week. So he taking them from the people that need them the most. A judge blocked him from doing it due to it being a pandemic and his administration still filed an appeal and taking it to the supreme court :scust:

The problem is that as this wears on and the economy cracks..all of this will permeate throughout the private sector. There’s too many variables that come into play with shyt like this..can you hold your own for six months to over a year if this goes on?

A good point. I have enough in the bank to get me through a few months without issue. But for 6 months to a year—I would only be able to manage that with the help of unemployment.

It’s a scary. I work in the grocery industry and sales are through the roof across our stores—but if people aren’t able to buy food because they don’t have money, it will hit us hard. I’m in corporate and my role is not deemed essential(hence how I’ve been able to be remote), I don’t imagine the company being okay having a large mostly remote workforce for 6 months to a year. Right now yes? For a long period of time? Roles could certainly get cut.
