Teerible thread , nfl doesnt have this problem with fandom because they dont push markets they push teams . Nfl has the worst commentary when it comes to building up brands. Teams like Kansas city chiefs buffalo bills denver Broncos Minnesota vikings Detroit lions Tennessee titans etc wouldn't find fanbase success in the nba

That post was crazy, how the fukk isn't Philly a big market? :wtf:

But to be on topic, the league just signed a gigantic rights deal with its partners, I don't think it's for the fans to determine if the league has an "issue" on their hands. Also this is a good thing as it forces the league to actually talk about other teams outside of the big market franchises. The old adage of "only the big markets matter in the NBA" may be over, the league is so spread out with talent that it may be a totally different final four teams this time next year. We're gonna have 7 different champions over the last 7 seasons. Hell, now that I think about it OKC/Cavs in the regular season had one of the highest rated games this season.

Of course I want my Clippers to succeed but we "name chase" washed stars and don't develop players. Had SGA, all of our picks, and open cap space but threw it all away to chase Kawhi and did whatever he told them to do. No hindsight 20/20 sh*t either. SGA was our starting point guard against the behemoth Warriors squad in the playoffs as a rookie. All under Doc Rivers too. Nobody saw MVP, but he was a future all star etched in stone without a doubt.

The Lakers & Suns name chase and dump all their youth too. It is what it is. Got nobody to blame but ourselves. The media said the Lakers were winning the 'ship off Bron & Luka alone. Meanwhile JJ went with a five man rotation against the Wolves. Phoenix and Philly still trying to do a Big 3 and full the roster in with vagabond players in 2025 is nuts. I'm enjoying these new teams.

If anyone still thinks of Anthony “loud mouth” Edwards as the face of the league get help.

These small market teams taking over is Adam Silver’s nightmare.

My Lakers being coached by an arrogant, rude, ex-podcaster who can’t coach a kid’s league is ruining our chances.

Bulls. We already know the issue.

Sixers is not a big market team imo

Clippers have 0 shot with Harden

Celtics will be back and a serious contender. Warriors too. I expect a big trade this summer..

But yes

Besides LeBron’s pending retirement causing a serious “no face of the league” issue (Wemby is not, Cooper Flagg is not,
Kyrie doesn’t want it)… these small markets have nearly no pull (look at the OKC-Wolves series.. NOBODY CARES, indy is different because they once were legit contenders during the most competitive time in the NBA and the Knicks in the ECF for the first time in 25 years is a big thing). Other than that.. nobody’s checking for a Cleveland Cavs game, #1 or #last in their conference.
13 million people live in Pennsylvania, Philly is the 7th largest urban area and then you add Delaware and southern Jersey

You also seem to have forgot about Houston and Dallas

:mjlol:Kyrie had one of the most popular shoes on Nike, had a movie/commercial with the same theme. He’s way more popular than Ant, Shai and any newer guy. The Jew shyt hurt him
I thought about it a little more and y’all might be right. I guess for me a “face” of the league should be a top ten American player. I’ve never thought of Killa Ky as one. Had the potential but never quite there.

The NBA isn’t The NFL so there’s no reason to compare them

The Celtics have 18 titles & The Lakers have 17. The balance of power is inherently lopsided

The levels of endorsements & earning potential for NBA guys far exceeds NFL players

The impact one NBA superstar has on a team’s prospects far exceeds an NFL superstar

It will always be a lazy comparison

League will be alright. Bron and KD played a significant portion of their career in Oklahoma and Cleveland. And who the fukk were the Warriors before Curry became who he was even though they were in a “big market”?

The most hyped athlete in the history of American sports & the guy that revolutionized basketball were able to hold attention playing for small market teams…

Oh baby what a point :whew: :lupe:
