Good for you on being self sufficient. I'm in the middle of doing mine right now. Woke up this morning and my dashboard looked like the middle of the hood on a 4th of July lol. New alternator will be here tomorrow morning and I get off at 1 during the summer so it ain't really all that bad. Still beats having a monthly payment and having to pay for full coverage insurance *shrug*

Been around a shop since I was in high school since my cousin runs one, so I've practically seen it all. A lot of the stereotypes are justified, there are mechanics out there that try to get over on you and bytch up cars - but it's a two-way street because there are twice as many customers who try to act like they don't know what 2+2 is and are so penny wise/pound foolish they turn themselves into idiots when it comes to their vehicle (like the dude who made the thread on here about a coolant leak and diagnosed it as an AC problem :mjlol: )

Thankful for the knowledge and I'll help out when I can but I would never want to work in that lane full-time, let alone run my own shop. The money's good but you're constantly dirty, the hours are unforgiving, and you need a special level of patience and diplomacy to deal with the amount of morons that come through that door. Nothing but respect to the legit mechanics out there and their loyal customers who have sense.

Who shytting on mechanics? I had my own personal one with 20 years exp before he went back to Africa and was with him when he went to the pick a part and when he actually fixed my shyt twice. That nikka cold and what i seen him go through to get it done showed me that it's very respectable work

They didn't have auto mechanics in your HS?
I was thinking about this the other day how shyt I found interesting they took away, when I went to school they took all the trades out of high school, so instead of learning how to rebuild an engine I had to take bullshyt ass classes

this seems like something they'd offer in a rural or suburban h.s.
I'm from neither and they had it in my school. Thought that was pretty common back i the day

I ain’t never worked on a car before. Just got done changing out my alternator:damn::sadbron: Saved about $400. I'm getting rid of this bytch in 4 months:pacspit:

Honestly it wouldn't have been so bad if I had the weekend but nikkas gotta work and buy groceries :snoop:
Alternators are usually right up top. Change your spark plugs and get back at me.

Change your o2 sensors and get back at me.

Alternator is two bolts a electric cable clip and take off the belt breh. Pretty fukking easy lol

Mine is water cooled. I had to clamp off four coolant houses and bleed the radiator afterwards. Not the funnest job, but not too bad once you’ve done it enough times lol

Not on a Lexus it's not. You gotta lift that bytch up and pull it from the bottom. You can do the top but that requires removing the fan and radiator hose
