People shyt on Tyla in the US but don’t support no R&B artists outside 1 or 2 people.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Focusing on South African cultural differences and bragging about her flopping in the U.S….. but nobody supports R&B music in this country at all.

That’s the funny part. We brag about affecting shyt culturally, but an entire genre has been dead for decades. What is there to brag about :mindblown:

Giveon dropped an album this year and crickets. And it checked all of those boxes.

I mean GREAT songwriters. Just a glance over reviews for his new album and folks are calling it "forgettable" "almost no real highlights" "the most 3/5 album ever" "old school sound" so more pastiche music. I'm talkin bout D'angelo good...at least Bilal.

It sucks but the genre isn't popping for men you either have to make r&b that sounds modern like Frank Ocean did (Blonde is a certified classic now) or make classic r&b on the level of Ascension (Don't Ever Wonder) from Maxwell, 3/5 aint gon get it lol.

Nah. I don’t listen to her music. But people going out of their way to shyt on her because she says she’s coloured is comical.

You can’t apply cultural rules to black people that don’t come from this country. Expecting or thinking black people all over the world go through the same shyt as black Americans is arrogant and ignorant. Even on this country, black culture in the south is different than the west coast, east coast or Midwest. The slang is different, and customs are all aligned.

So to get mad an someone who isn’t from the U.S. over some shyt you not even up on is crazy.

Nah people tried to put her up on game then she doubled down with that "uppity african" nonsense. As if the most "downity" group on the globe could afford to be uppity how comical. Black american culture from all regions has common roots(the deep south), We are not that different. People shouldn't try to come to america with their shyt music. Keep it in Africa.

Yeah. How’s it dead? Lotta great artists—Snoh Allegra, summer walker, HER, jorja smith, Ella Mai, mahalia, sza, Anderson Park (sometimes), etc

I can't think of a single genre of music that actually died as long as I've been around. Not popular anymore sure, but none of them really die.

Like Blues was never really popular and they still make it to this day.

I hope a African or Haitian pushes you onto an oncoming subway train. Oreo.
