People shyt on Tyla in the US but don’t support no R&B artists outside 1 or 2 people.

She needs to fire her team,go away for a while, see more of the world and realize that her core market isn't the US and act accordingly. The end all of music globally isn't just the US anymore and if you reach for longevity instead of running from viral moment to moment and not pander to each and every group waiting to be insulted she can have a long career. Her cosplaying as a black American girl while shytting on their cultural holy houses is what made people go hard on her. So go away, get popping somewhere else and watch...
How about yall recognize that she’s nothing special outside of Africa finally producing a girl that resembles us without the need for cake soap.

We were nice to her (like we are to all you little guys) until she showed her true colors (like you all eventually do), and now she’s done forever (just like you).

I don’t even think South Africans bump tyla much. Zee nxumalo, nkosazana daughter, shandesh and kharishma are bigger stars locally it seems. And Mawhoo is number one right now

they dont in africa in general :skip:

ayra starr is bigger on the continent and more talented

You sound like you’re repeating what everyone else said. Explain this “market”

What exactly is she catering to in the United States? What’s the comp? What “customs” are they supposed to adhere to when it comes to R&B?

Say something original and maybe I will take you seriously.

saying you're coloured without context on a radio show aimed at the urban market in a country where the term has a different and loaded meaning...

stop playing dumb

and if people really want to drill down...coloured people in SA can be VERY anti black so all this respect talk by black folks trying to defend tyla's coloured identity is hilarious

Like nikka? :mjpls:
Like bytch? :mjpls:
o my bad.. "bad bytch"..

Don't nobody got time to learn lingo. You can't expect black people from other countries to come to America and assimilate. An outsider see black people use nikka as a term of endearment.. Coloured was a colonial apartheid classification meaning mixed race that simply stuck. It's no different a lot of mixed race Americans opting to use other terms. It's not that serious.

no nikka and coloured (south africa meaning) are not similar

"you cant expect a media figure coming to market herself to a new country specifically an urban market to know anything about the country and said urban market" ... do you hear how dumb you sound?

also no, coloured isn't "simply" a colonial apartheid classification...once again theres a huge anti-black sentiment among that demographic

have you even been to SA let alone Africa?

:skip: Cool, so don't 'expect' our money.

And that's where you sound goofy. Black people don't support much of anything musically in this country.

BET Awards and Soul Train Awards cancelled. American artists forced to cancel tour dates. The problem is everyone thinks they can be a celebrity on social media and get just as much money as the artist. The music, the art has been dead for the pas few years.
So to berate an foreign artist when Americans don't support anyone outside of Beyonce and maybe SZA, doesn't really hold any weight. American ears are so sanitized and programmed to only listen to certain genre's shows how closed off a lot of people are culturally. People come over her to expand and get money out of respect, but don't act like anyone needs the US market :mjlol: Caribbean artists for the most part stopped caring.

I think folks think we had nothing but global R&B Superstars back in the "old days" but in reality its always been maybe 2 - 3 acts that really make impact that last decades and can go on world tours. Most of those R&B "stars" from the 80s/90s are out the game or those who had a few Tom Joyner Radio Show hits are making a living performing on cruise ships, local clubs in big cities, small casino rooms around the country, Epcot Center and Sea World. I remember one of my first concerts I saw as a kid was legendary Spinners on a tiny stage at the NC State Fair. Right now you can see Chante Moore and Selena Johnson at your local "City Winery" which is wine/dine chain located around the country.

That record had 4 fukking songs on it

And it was a EP

Nobody is going to spend money on 4 songs on it

But back to the topic R&B on a large scale is trash and been trash for a long time on a commercial level… u got Sza , Bey and Chris brown who only moving legit records

These other artist might have 1 good song because of the beat but lyrically they are trash and all sound a like especially the women

Black music has always been propped up by white capital. The difference now is that they are fine making money off old black music instead of investing in new artists.
