people who say driving is easy are the worst, there's nothing easy about it from a new learners perspective

Driving is fun, been doing it since I was 17. Once you get the hang of it you'll be fine.

The best thing my parents did was pay for driving lessons. I got a rough, chain smoking, ex-military, older black woman who loved to cuss. She was exactly what I needed. She was not for the bs and forced my shy timid @ss to not be scared of the road. I wish I could find her; I'd definitely buy her a pack of cigs and have a drink with her lol

Driving on its own is easy :dahell:
What's difficult is navigating when there are others on the road
Lots of people lack spatial awareness, reactionary actions, muscle memory, anticipatory thought
Defensive driving tactics should be at the forefront of any training you take
Always assume the guy/girl next/in front/behind you is an idiot
Facts. :pachaha:

Its one of the reasons I didn't get my license until I was 18. I use to HATE driving. I'd have night terrors about it. My parents had to FORCE me to get my drivers license. I literally sat in the DMV, with tears in my eyes, at the thought of having to operate one of these death traps. My father tried to teach me how to drive a stick. I missed one of the gears, or something, and the car started to shake. I remember I started screaming!!! He made me switch positions and drove me back home. Even to this day I am sometimes TERRIFIED of driving on the highway. I say a little prayer, and squeeze my stress ball before getting on the highway. The first time I drove on the highway, by myself, I had to pull over and breathe into a paper bag. I got so lightheaded, I thought I was going to pass out. Its a lot easier, these days, and sometimes I even enjoy driving, but I'm still sometimes a bit jittery when it comes to getting on the road. My goodness, it feels good to type this all out!!! 😬

Learned late because I lived in the city and just took the cab or train, but dude that taught me was a breh from the south and said, "If my dumbass 14 year old cousin can drive, you can at this age" really put it into perspective. By the 4th lesson, he told me to see if I could get a refund on the remaining package and just take the test.

I still don't drive like that because I'm not going to bother looking for parking in this city, but it's decent to rent a car for the weekend and make your girl think you're planning some romatic shyt and not scheming to blow her back out in different zip codes.

Funny timing seeing this thread.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, never needed to drive.

Got a permit, failed the road test twice.

Moved out into the country a few months ago and the Lyft/Uber well is starting to dry up to get to my bus to get into the city for work and the wife usually picked me up.

Got tired of waiting and seeing rides get cancelled so I literally started driving myself to the bus yesterday. About to do that right now and it's pitch black.

Scared as fukk. I'm 35 bruh.

Different for everyone. :yeshrug:

I heard NYC is the hardest city to learn how to drive in, 31 and still don't know how to drive :francis:

Also I heard its hard to stay awake for long road trips on boring roads. Everyone in my family who done that NYC - North Carolina drive said it isn't that easy... mainly at night as those highways in rural areas don't have streetlights.

Driving isn't even the hard part. It's the other cars. 1 million different agendas and temperments all on the road together. shyt's chaotic.
I’m saying. My girl calls me when I’m driving and I get angry every time…ready to fire off on her ass like “woman I AM DRIVING…these mfs out here can’t drive for shyt and I’m trying to protect my damn life…now what the fukk do you want??? :gucci: “

Maybe it’s just me but after getting rear ended while stopped on the highway I’m so privy to the bullshyt and keep my head on a mf swivel…post Covid has mfs driving like GTA V pedestrians

The Truth
Firstly it's a machine that can cause severe injury or death to the driver and/or other road users

Then there's all the informations that must be understand and followed religiously and even if you are a fast learner who picks up information quickly, you
still need confidence behind the wheel and that's something that takes time and plenty of practice for the vast majority to develop and some may never develop it

And after that, you still need to pass the practical test, then hope all the road users you will encounter won't be bad drivers or idiots who will force you to brake sharply or making last minute adjustment which can have severe consequences

The way experienced drivers make it seem like something must be wrong with you if you can't learn how to drive effortlessly and pass your test at first try
is :comeon:
Do something once then complain to brehs who’ve driven hundreds of thousands of miles about it being difficult, brehs
