The body language says it all…. I myself have the privilege of being the big scary looking black man so I have only had one interaction of this “petting” with another adult (21yrs ^) in regard to my hair since I started my Locs. Since I follow plenty of natural sisters I get y’all’s accounts of these incidences and to deal with this on a regular basis I honestly don’t see how y’all do it.

I found this on tumblr but I certainly can identify with people reaching out to touch my hair w/o my permission! I love her response though. If i'm inconvenienced, I'll return the favor.
