Good film.

I believe the black guy is basically playing the role of Osiris.

One question for those who've seen it...my pet peeve in horror is unnecessary jump scares. They're so cheap. Are there alot of them?

Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
As a fan of the book, I didn't love it however it did keep the book's dark foreboding atmosphere and sense of hopelessness. I think switching the kid to the older girl made it more intense. Just really disliked the ending. Oh and the use of the black guy felt wrong. I hate it when white writers use black folks as a magical negro. That's exactly what he was, and he wasn't even helpful.

I was thoroughly unimpressed by every second of this movie.
Tell me how the original, in all of it’s soft lighting splendor still comes across as a more dark and dreadful telling of the story?

For all of the good reviews spouting their hyperbole of this remake being the best King adaptation, I still can’t figure out why this needed to be made. Unlike It, a fantastic and warranted retelling of another one of Kings classics

Zelda was purely a jump scare tactic in this. I expected her to somehow be even more terrifying than the original incantation...I was very wrong

That is what is so crazy about this version of the movie to me. The OG Sematary was probably shot 75% in broad daylight yet it felt more foreboding from start to finish than this movie did which was mostly shot in the dark with wafting mists that roll in whenever they are needed to provide creepy atmosphere.
And the change which character ended up getting run over by the big rig ruined the one thing about the original movie that I actually enjoyed.
