nikkas forming like Voltron to hate on Flex. These nikkas too old to be acting like this. Pete still sending subliminals at Nas too. Just making himself look bitter.

one word: PAYOLA

When NY STATE ATTORNEY Elliott Spitzer investigated Clear Channel and Emmis Broadcsting (hot 97) for payola practices taking.place at all its affiliated stations...Flex name came up frequently..

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/media/2005/jul/26/radio.business

These allegations were validated by artists as well whom said publicity that Flex accepted money to play records...

Thirston Howell was the first to reveal that Flex only started playing southern artist once guys like Master P were cutting checks to Flex's Big Dawg Pit bull Coalition which acted as like a union

KRS ONE even stated how he once gave Flex 5k to break a new artist record he was promoting for giant/EMI records

Spitzer lifts lid on payola at radio stations

They don't hate him over Payola, they hate him because he's still here in 2018. The old guys don't understand how to move in this new economy and are bitter about it. Kid Capri is mad because flex posted a pic of Chuck Chillout and Red Alert. One is his mentor and the other put him on the radio but kid Capri feels like flex should have gave him some props. That's just bitter man let's be real.

When it comes to NY Radio Payola, that rabbit hole goes deeper than funk flex. He's just the most popular of the names. Radio as a whole is bought and paid for. If not cash then in the form of gifts. I've met a few "bag men" and they all weren't just going to see flex. Plenty of NY radio program directors,DJ's, and radio personalities who have gotten what we call a "remember who your friends are Rolex "

That's Flex's problem. He's still on the air prime time 20 years later as an employee doing the same stuff he was doing literally 20 years ago and never bossed up. Instead, he's just the Old Head in the way yapping all the time.

Cipha Sounds, who came up under Flex, said this ELEVEN YEARS AGO!!!!!!!

Why did you make the transition from Hot 97 to Sirius?

I always say this as a bad joke, but unless somebody dies or gets pregnant, there’s nothing opening up over there [at Hot 97]. Flex been promising he’s gon’ retire for eight years. [Laughs]

No reason at all for him to not have groomed somebody else to take his spot. Cipha is a good sport about it but, when discussing coming up under him, you really see how much Flex has a true crab mentality. He refuses to age gracefully and that's a big reason why Hot 97 has no real new stars (Power 105 isn't too much better but still).

It's all tied in to what Joe Budden was saying on his podcast 2 weeks ago about how the same people are in the same spots doing the same things at places like Hot 97 since 15 years ago when he was a new artist.

Flex nickname is the franchise because hot 97 was started around him. You can't be upset that a dude won't leave his job so you can have it. It's 24 hours in a day tons of people have moved into different things at hot 97 or other places. If your career plan is waiting for a star to walk away then you fukked yourself
