I stand on Hip Hop being Hip Hop. I'm not gonna change my view based on the opinions of others or whether or not I like some beats on an album. It's always going to be the same for me. So even when Pete was saying weird shyt about OB4CL, which he was initially fronting on, I didn’t care, lol. That's someone else's opinion. He's a legend. He can voice that. Even if it differs from mine. It's not going to bother me.

So I don’t see the issue. People usually like comments they agree with. My question is, does Pete Rock liking the comment bother you? And if so, why would his opinion on something he's spent his entire life in, be an issue? Hip Hop is this dude's whole life. He's going to have opinions on it. Why would his opinions be an issue for you or anyone else?

That's what I'm not getting. Someone having an opinion that differs from mine means they're "hating"? Come on now. We can't start putting that kinda nonsense on people whenever they don't f*ck with things that we like. That's not what Hip Hop is about.

Im more baffled at anyone defending the comment than the actual comment.

Like its pretty much expected him and like you said hes gotten his beat for shyt in the past....I just dont get why anyone would defend it under a guise of "Its Hip Hop"

I'm pretty sure it's because he agrees with dude, lol.

There is no "under the guise of Hip Hop". This is what the culture is. If you think something is weak, you say so. If you think something is dope, you say so. That's what this is, and has always been. Rappers were always on TV and songs saying Vanilla Ice was wack. That's not hate. That's how they felt. A lot of us did. KRS-One said PM Dawn was "garbage". He even showed up to a show they had and threw dude off the stage. That's not hating. Saying you don’t like this album or this rapper or producer, etc, is literally what Hip Hop was built on.

When we start having an issue with people being honest about how they feel about the music, then that's when the culture has a problem.

This aint talking about Yatchy or Post Malone which would be the equivalent of Vanilla Ice or PM Dawn lol

I think PM Dawn was dope. LOL!

They had classic sh*t, even if Kris didn't like them. Vanilla Ice, Yachty and Post Malone are definitely what I'd call wack. :russ:

I saw them more as R&B, lol.

Hating is a jealousy thing. Pete is Top 5 forever. He can only be jealous of other greats. Him voicing his dislike for certain music isn't hating. He was just speaking out against Drill last year. That wasn't hating. He was speaking the truth. Like Common said, "If I don’t like something, I just think it's wack. That doesn't mean I'm hating".

Where did Kanye say Nas can’t do the double time flow? Lol

I think he can do it…I just don’t want to hear it, 🤷🏽‍♂️. Hitboy probably be gassin him to do that shyt more, smh 😆

And you kinda know there’s no quality control. If there’s a wack beat neither of them is gonna catch it :pachaha:

You know it’s real when 2 people in separate convos and different context are essentially saying the same thing

You missed his point

He was just picking a variety of big name and/or legends thats all
I didn’t miss the point at all. That IS the point that not all big name producers are the same. To even put metro and dilla in the same sentence is 🤢

And we absolutely can tell which producer-rapper combo seems like it’d naturally be a match

A Hit Boy-Nas collab is actually going just as you’d assume. Some great songs , but it’s not seamless. Whereas Nas Preemo, Nas Pete rock, Nas Q Tip, Nas dilla :damn:would be more organic you’d think

Not even a knock on Hit, it’s just common sense he’s from a different era, more of a ‘hit record’ producer, he’s from across the country, almost 20 years Nas’ junior. It’s not a jay z and Kanye or jay z and No ID dynamic. Hit is not selectively crafting an album based on the oldies Nas used to listened to, put it that way :heh:

And just to prove the type of time The Booth be on when it comes to producer discussions in regard to Nas:

1

^^^ this was suggested BEFORE Nas ever started making albums with Hit Boy. Do you know how many Nas fans shot down that idea without a single record heard?

All i know is…I knew off the rip these albums would fade a bit once the hype died down.

Magic is 9 songs. For an album that short to be classic (like Illmatic) it gotta be straight thru no skips. Magic has skips. To me 6 out of 9 songs are good.

Also, just a full album of ‘good’ tracks don’t make a classic, it’s gotta have classic songs. Deep songs. This doesn’t have that

KD2 I see as more as an ‘album full of good tracks’, but lacking the depth or ‘classic’ feel like LIG. Or even 4:44. Song for song quality kd2 and 4:44 are similar but a) jay z cut the fat, there are no filler tracks like Nas has (40 side, EPMD 🤢, YKTV ‘Peter pop off’? 😂🤦🏿‍♂️) and b) jay has more depth, more of a theme. Kd2 is like a compilation of songs.

Nggas was :damn::pacspit: at me in them threads….oh but NOW it’s okay to kill Baby :pachaha: now nggas souring on the whole damn run:heh:
