We’re not talking about Nas we’re talking production, and yes those albums —-Piñata, bandana, Be, 4:44—are more cohesive, better produced albums.

Ie Paperwork I’m not talking exec producing an album, I’m talking producing the full album. Pharrell has Hell hath no fury and it’s Almost dry. Both superior to any of these albums production-wise. Even Pete Rock has Dont Smoke Rock w/ smoke Dza

Overall the point is I think Pete (and probably plenty other producers) feel they would provide superior albums if they had unlimited access to Nas and FIVE cracks at it

KD2 can stand up against any of those albums in fact it’s better than most of the albums you named, you sound like a basement dwelling hipster, Piñata Bandana aren’t better albums than KD3 or 2 and neither is 4.44 but I get why some of you would say this because these albums (Piñata and Bandana) are the epitome of white hipster 2000 boom bap ‘Nas hasn’t had a good album since Illmatic’ yelling rhetoric.

I didn’t miss the point at all. That IS the point that not all big name producers are the same. To even put metro and dilla in the same sentence is 🤢

And we absolutely can tell which producer-rapper combo seems like it’d naturally be a match

A Hit Boy-Nas collab is actually going just as you’d assume. Some great songs , but it’s not seamless. Whereas Nas Preemo, Nas Pete rock, Nas Q Tip, Nas dilla :damn:would be more organic you’d think

Not even a knock on Hit, it’s just common sense he’s from a different era, more of a ‘hit record’ producer, he’s from across the country, almost 20 years Nas’ junior. It’s not a jay z and Kanye or jay z and No ID dynamic. Hit is not selectively crafting an album based on the oldies Nas used to listened to, put it that way :heh:

Hes made albums with timbaland and premier on them. He was just citing an exampleman

And I think while all those guys you named would be great, it as far as classic status it would be downplayed in the culture cause its two older guys. It would still be a great album though

The fact that there is so much controversy around Hit-Boy proves to me he’s not the genius certain Nas Stans think he is

I’ve never seen this type of talk for any other producer ever in my life

Hmmmm …. Maybe swizz beats

Hes never been as polarizing as Swizz.
Hit played his position making beats for the younger generation and its only in the past 3 years he showing new stuff

And its seems like suddenly now on run with nas people are being weird about his beatmaking (and really only since Magic 2 dropped

People online praise and hate different producers all the time though

Swizz got hate because he didn’t sample and instead of boom bap drums he just replaced them with Casio keyboard synths. Pete Rock was one of the guys leading the charge against him back then too.

There’s no controversy. Just old dusty boom bap heads salty that out of all the producers that they want nas to do a 1 on 1 album with he’s chosen Hit-Boy. Pete Rock is a fukking dusthead, how you suing nas but upset about him working with hit boy? nikka wants a nas placement so fukking bad while secretly hating on him.

As a nas fan I do understand that he’s worth 9 figures and doesn’t have to rap so if he decides he wants to work with one producer just shut up and accept it. Some of these fans don’t get that.

I think the weird part in all of this is people seeking out and knowing which tweets Pete is liking and sharing that, to stir up sh*t.

Pete isn't doing or saying anything other legends aren't saying in private. Pete just doesn't care about expressing himself publicly, lol. He's always talked sh*t about what he thinks is wack in production and what he doesn't. He's been doing that since the mid 90's. But dude is easily a Top 5 producer of all-time, so if anyone is qualified to speak on Hip Hop, it's him.

Is he angry and an *sshole most of the time? Definitely. LOL!! He's always been. But he's rarely wrong.

He’s 100% wrong about Hit Boy and he has a weird grudge against Nas, he’s had that grudge for almost 20 years before he got back on the Nas train when he produced on Lost Tapes 2. Now of course he’s mad because Nas called out his weird behavior on 30.

If anybody should NOT be taken seriously when it comes to they’re thoughts on Nas production choices its Pete Rock

First off dude is a CAC so I don't usually care about his opinion on this but since we're here. Hitboy has done a great job with Nas over these 5 albums. Show me another rapper that has 5 albums full with just one producer that sounds as good as these have?

New Pete Rock Production..lmaoo

Yall want Nas on this shyt?

Nygga still doing them tired as "woooooo adlibs

This doesn’t even sound bad at all but with Nas i’m sure he’d take one listen and think to himself “Been there. Done that” and it wouldn’t inspire him to WRITE anything.

Thats the thing, its not about how dope the beat is, its about the beat’s relationship to the ARTIST and what it inspires within him. We don’t want an artist of Nas stature forcing something he doesn’t feel, we don’t want him utilizing Ghostwriters, we don’t want wasting what time he has left.

The genius of Hit Boy isn’t just “we made a classic/album way back when so let me give you more of the same”. Its the beats he crafts are fitting Nas pen game. Lets also not forget its about the relationship the producer has with the artist. Nas himself has said “I don’t work this hard to be around people I don’t like”. Pete Rock and Nas DO NOT have a good relationship. Pete Rock PUBLICLY skewered It Was Written because he wasn’t on it. He took pot shots at Nas throughout the 90’s and the resulting twenty years, then flipped and was crying tears of joy when he was LT2, THEN flipped and threatened to sue Nas over the Master royalties to Illmatic (Masters Nas DOES NOT OWN)

And ya’ll really think Nas is going to lock into a studio with THAT nikka?!? Does that make ANY sense?

:scust:

You just typed “Metro boomin/jay dilla” your opinion on any hip hop related matter is void
