First I gotta reiterate that Hit Boy is dope.

With that out the way the most annoying, most :martin: part of all this ‘old head producer ‘ bashing is Hit is at his best (with Nas) when he’s basically emulating ‘old head producers’

Don’t believe me go look at the ‘best songs on this hit run’ thread.

It’s a whole lot of Wu for the Children, Rare, Nas is Good, Store Run. Mans is damn near making chipmunk soul :heh::ahh:

I don’t see a lot of….27 Summers :beli: All Bad:aicmon: Car 85:comeon:

If you follow someone on twitter any tweet they like will come onto your timeline (Pause):dame:

I just think its unfortunate man cause its disrespecting another young producer in the game like that, who by the way, other great producers respect. Dr Dre, DJ Premier, Alchemist have all shown Hit Boy love. They've worked with Hit Boy. It goes back to that whole different generation thing in rap about supporting each other than dissing each other. I dont know why you would do that other than just on some petty shyt when he wont go on the record with it. And its also dissing every producer Nas has worked with before like Salaam, LES, Large Pro, Buckwild, Q-Tip,Ye, Havoc, Al, No ID, Dre, Trackmasters. Even if you dont fukk with them its kinda lame
He moves generally like an unaware guy. I remember he did a similar thing liking or hinting a tweet when Nasir dropped being mad he wasnt on it....as if what indication gave him idea Nas would put him on a Kanye rollout:mjtf:
I've been over-posting in here the past hour but last thing for a minute. This is spot on. It's just a bad look. Not everything you think needs to be said out loud.

Pete's really shooting himself in the foot. There's a difference between being an ass kissing politician and just being gracious and diplomatic. Nobody wants to work with someone that's a fukking hater and always being bitter and cynical. Some of the names you've mentioned too like Alchemist and Madlib have had super long 2nd runs in their careers because they embraced the newer generations and actively went out of their way to not become bitter old heads.

Once you evolve into that roll as an OG that is also cool with the next generation...a lot of doors can open up for you. Pete's just going to keep isolating himself more and more from the rest of the game.

Salaam caught a great deal of hate. He doesn't belong to purists. Im fact, he gets glossed over when people discuss Hip Hop producers in general. Out of all the producers ya'll claim Nas should go back to, has "organic" chemistry with, etc. Why hasn't he been mentioned? Certainly "Made You Look" is one of Nas's most legendary songs and one could easily say, Salaam is one of the producers Nas has had the most chemistry with.

In regard to No I.D., I can pull up the 2014 threads where people wanted him far away from a Nas album. Then Jay dropped 4:44 and people were back on the No I.D. train.

:wtf: @ first bold. Dude was producing for Dougie Fresh and biz markee before Nas. Uh, yea, he’s ‘ours’.

@ 2nd bold, those people probably didn’t know No ID produced some of the best songs in LIG (with salaam producing the others). No ID made Stay bruh :scust: :mjcry: but cats needed 4:44 to want Nas to work with him ?!? Who you talkin music wit bruh…. The man made Stay

HE MADE STAY :damn:

Stillmatic had a 69 MetaCritic score.

Do you think KD3 is better than Stillmatic?

Do you think Nas is rapping on the same level or sounds as good as he did then?

He doesn’t need to sound as good as he did then, Stillmatic and other Nas albums after Illmatic were unfairly stigmatised by critics for not being Illmatic it’s only till recently they’ve been giving him his fair dues.

Jay doesn’t sound like he did on Reasonable Doubt and he hasn’t made an album on par with Blueprint since at least Black album or at a stretch American Gangster, you can’t expect rappers or any musician for that matter to be in their prime their whole life.

Stop it

God’s Son had an 81 on MetaCritic and I Am got 4.5 Mics in the Source

That post I quoted doesn’t hold water in reference to my point

Don’t bring up Jay he’s not a part of this

Madness, bro.

Pete Rock is a great producer of the past but that isn’t relevant in 2023.

Other producers like Alchemist have managed to keep a level of consistency and still remain relevant underground and overground.

Pete Rock is a greater producer but I don’t want to hear Nas over his production in 2023, a great man once said. If you want my old music buy my old albums, Nas didn’t need Pete in 2001 and he don’t need him now.

You’re delusional if you expect a 50 year old rapper to sound exactly how he did 30 years as a 20 year old, seriously. He’s still rapping to a good level, and dropping good albums I’m happy with that.

I am was a very good album and so was Gods Son, the source are one magazine who haven’t really been unfair to Nas so don’t know why you’re bringing that up.

He's got a bunch of full albums with all dope beats he's put out recently. Just because you aren't checking for it doesn't mean he doesn't have heat.
Why do you guys make up shyt when you don't actually know? Super weird behavior constantly happening on this board.

And on and on and on and on. Pete Rock never fell off.

It's 2023, people put on ASMR videos if they can't fall asleep they don't want this shyt :camby:

Again, I don’t know why people pidgeon whole fans wanting more organic Nas tracks as ‘boom bap ’. What does the even mean?!! When was the last time Nas was ‘boom bap’ :heh:

Y’all also vastly underrated these elite level producers. Life is Good is primarily Salaam Remi and No ID. They belong to us ‘purists’. Did that sound boom bap? Does ‘Where’s the Love’ sound like ‘Like water for chocolate’ :mjtf: Did 4:44 sound dated? When kendrick Lamar goes to 9th 9h isn’t stupid he’s not giving Him a Fruity loops Joe Scudda throw away. Duckworth was modern and brilliant

Nggas clowning Pete Rock…so Rick ross can spit on some Pete but not Nas? Does this sound “boom bap” or ‘sleep inducing’

:ahh:

They don't listen to music like that and that's why all they can say talk about is boom bap/90's beats. Alchemist barely even makes the kind of beats he made back in the days. His sound is a lot different. Pete can obviously do more as you already proved and he did that song for Gunn. The tape he did with Benny and DZA was full of dope production. Pete Rock is still dope but they wouldn't know because they don't listen. Even if they did listen they couldn't say it's dope because it goes against the Hit Boy narrative they're holding on so tightly to.

:mjlol:

Analytical spreadsheet nerd hip hop fans like this nikka is why hip hop is done

Type to use metacritic ratings in a hip hop discussion :scust:
