shoeless joe got done a raw deal. From i heard he was illiterate and quite possibly didn't even know he was part of the gambling scheme. But rather got roped into it without fully understanding by other players because he was the biggest name in the league at the time.

He was aware and was given money to participate in the fix. Thing is, when you look at his numbers, you damned sure couldn’t tell he was in on it. By far the best player in the series…even setting a World Series record for hits that stood 60 plus years.
