The Chiefs have struck a deal with Jets defensive lineman Mike DeVito, Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star reported Tuesday.
The 6-fo0t-3, 305-pound DeVito recorded 52 tackles for the Jets in 2012. He has started 37 games in the last three seasons.
The Chiefs will run a 3-4 defense in 2013, just as they did a season ago. DeVito was listed as a tackle (though not a nose tackle) on the Jets’ three-player defensive line.
The 28-year-old DeVito is entering his seventh NFL season.

Coming off a season-ending injury, Glenn Dorsey will take a free agent visit to San Francisco. The former No. 5 overall pick could be a bargain for the NFC Champions.
Free agent receiver Greg Jennings appeared to be so sure he was leaving Green Bay that he put his house in Wisconsin up for sale. But now it appears that Jennings has a decent chance of staying with the Packers.
Although Jennings was interested in a reunion with Joe Philbin in Miami, the Dolphins didn’t show a lot of interest and are now out of the running after signing receiver Mike Wallace. That leaves the Vikings as the team reported to have the most interest in Jennings, but Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports that it’s both the Packers and the Vikings who are expressing interest.
Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that if Jennings hasn’t signed with another team by midnight, returning to the Packers is a possibility.
What it may come down to is whether Jennings takes the Vikings’ offer or decides to stay in the only place he’s ever played in his seven-year NFL career. It might just be easier for Jennings to take his house off the market and remain in Green Bay.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson felt like he got kicked in the stomach after the team traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seahawks, but the team took a step Tuesday to try to keep Peterson from taking too many actual blows to the gut in 2013.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Vikings have agreed to a three-year deal with fullback Jerome Felton. Per Rapoport, the total compensation is $7.5 million but there’s no indication of guarantees or how the deal is structured.
Felton was a blocker on many of the runs that Peterson used to post the second-most rushing yards in a single season, earning him a trip to the Pro Bowl and a second-team All-Pro spot from the Associated Press. He didn’t have any carries all year and caught three passes for 35 yards which illustrates quite well that blocking was his first, second and third priority on the Vikings offense.
It’s been a busy day for the Vikings in terms of bringing back their own free agents. Right tackle Phil Loadholt and safety Jamarca Sanford have also reupped with the Vikings on Tuesday.
