I can name alot of artists but ill keep it simple. Damn near all Biggies hits and ALOT of Bad Boy records were RnB based. How you like Biggie but not Mtume?

You cant have Hip Hop without RnB and everything before it. Hip Hop was birthed. It is not its own exclusive genre.

Cacs just dont like being excluded and innately dont want black to have ownership especially when it is as impactful as Hip Hop. Notice his authoritative stance. Thats why they hold the title of Hip Hop head as a badge of honor.

I remember a time when r&b was kinda openly hated on by many hip-hop heads, not just white ones. My memory is hazy but I remember hiphop forums and mags up in arms about Mobb Deep doing songs with r&b groups. Nowadays, you only see this hate kept alive by older white hiphop fans
That's a different issue. Not wanting to mix genres is different than hating on r&b. Rap dudes didn't fukk with Michael Jackson? If anything, hardcore rap stans didn't like trendy new r&b at the time but respected/enjoyed the established artists from Luther to MJ to Anita Baker.

Regardless though...Rosenberg wasn't even a hardcore hip hop fan during that time period of the early/mid 90s right? I'll give him props for giving so many underground or "independent" artists shine but even that kinda looks funny in the light to a degree. He was all on the TDE and Joey Badass bandwagons because he knew they'd blow up, who was managing them, etc. He was once on the Drake bandwagon for the same reason...until Drake stopped answering texts/calls. Meanwhile he had jack shyt to say about Griselda until Interscope got involved. He ignored Roc Marciano for years. Picking winners and losers is nothing new to hip hop, especially from the DJ and producer chair. But if you're gonna claim to be a hardcore hip hop dude, stop telling me you love major rap releases while having jack shyt to say about noteworthy independent releases. He could release a yearly "best rap album of the year" list and it would almost certainly be full of mainstream shyt because he's not out here listening to Mach Hommy, Ka, etc like that.
Dont forget that a lot of rap media was run by white people :heh:

Plus, theres no telling who you saw on message boards. The R&B feature was always cool.

Cacs like vampires have no souls, which makes RnB distasteful for them.

Huge difference. He had a disdain for new jack swing shyt but not soul music. How could he when he sampled Isley Brothers on It Was A Good Day and Evelyn Champagne King on You Know How We Do It. If your parents didnt make you wake up early Saturday morning cleaning the house or go to a family reunion to some of these classic samples used for classic hip-hop albums then I just feel sad for you. Classic R&B is the life blood of hip-hop.
