I don't really like Rosenberg but what he said about Rakim is true in terms of how he innovated and evolved rhyming.

To be fair, isn't most of our GOAT fluid? Some days I think I have Nas at #1, some days Big.

His catalogue too small. I cant give dudes who run was so short GOAT status. I just cant. I dont care what their rhyming level was. Its not fair to the guys who really had to navigate through different era's and maintain.

His run was 10 years, that's longer than The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pac and other people who are ranked goat in their category
20-25 of hear like a Nas or Jay is really not normal, most people who go that long fall the fukk off far before that like the rolling stones. As far as navigation goes, he created the modern emcee, if that isn't navigating through different era's then I don't know what is. I still wouldn't have him in my top 5 though.
Rakim run was long and he dropped mad material in that time
His run was 86-92. That's 6 years.
He came back with a hit and a solid album in 97. Then another hit in 99.

yall missing the whole point. He saying rakim changed the game.The game had to adapt to him.He helped evolve rappers from dr suess status into real writers and lyricist. He not talking about runs. He talking about changing the whole game. Thats like if i say jackie robinson the goat black baseball player and you start telling me about another nikka stats. Non of them would be able to play if it wasnt for jackie robinson.Cant make a bigger contribution to the game than that. nikkas wouldnt b ryming how they do without rakim.

Yeah I don't have him as the GOAT for the same reasons.
His run wasn't that long. But I do think considering his innovation and how dope his short run was...I think he's earned a spot at the top, and I never argue with anyone that has them in their top 5.
