Maybe I was giving the wrong information, but if I'm not mistaken this IP was owned by Universal Interactive, developed by Naughty Dog. Mark Cerny was the President of Universal Interactive they also funded Insomniacs Spyro the Dragon for the PS1.

Sony just provided the platform.
