Obviously theres 3 but 2 of them are well behind Welker and the third, which is the safety, is a few yards away to Welker's right. Welker was effectively wide open. There was no reason to throw it to his back shoudler and I'm sure Brady didn't intend to throw it that way. It was just a poor throw and if Welker had made the catch it would've been an amazing catch.

If you wanna blame Welker for anything, blame him for that drop in the AFC Championship game this year. Now THAT'S a catch he should've made.

The defender to Welker's right wasn't close enough to make a back shoulder throw necessary. Welker was wide open and if Brady put the ball where it needed to be and hit him in stride it would've been an easy TD and we probably would've won that Super Bowl.

What don't you get about there being nothing to anticipate?

Did you actually watch the gif or are you just blind? Welker was wide open. There was no reason to throw it to his back shoulder. The safety wasn't close enough to make it necessary. It was a horrible throw and a tough catch to ask any receiver to make so no you really can't blame Welker for not making that catch. Blame Brady for the inaccurate throw and making Welker have to make a circus catch when there was no reason to.

brady's throw was a little off. there's no way he meant to put it there. welker had a good 2-3 yards between him and all 3 defenders. welker turned to look for the ball and had to make a weird adjustment.

I didn't forget shyt. He put the ball on his hands, Wes dropped it.

I'll agree it wasn't a perfect pass, but that's it. Wes made plenty of tougher catches, and if he caught that one nobody would be talking about how amazing the catch was. Make the catch, win the super bowl.
