Pretty sure this is his way of not having a stance. This isnt a political statement to truly say hes disgusted by both parties.
He told you he was a "new black" and didnt see color. This is more of the same.
Dont ask him anything about race and expect him to take a hard stance. And dont ask him about politics because he would rather sit on the fence unless its clear everyone is on the same side of the fence
