Great songwriter who comes up with great melodies but I agree his singing is grating. It's fine on a hook but when it's the entire song it kills me. That Daft Punk song he did was so annoying to me because it could have been dope with an actual singer with a falsetto.

I just look at Pharell as an extension of the funk genre where it wasn't always the greatest singers but the music was amazing and all about capturing a vibe.
