I mean, you really locked us into a decision with that permanent salary thing lol

That's the only way you could get me to choose the non college route.

Otherwise the PhD can parlay thier research experience into going into Medical school, pharmacy school, or law school.

And if they have a stem PhD and a juris doctor they can go into patent law which pays $$$$$

That same stem PhD can also work for big pharma

And if they get tired of all of that they can teach at a local college in thier retirement.

Wanna immigrate to a new country? The PhD will have an easier time getting citizenship.

Obviously more doors open up with a PhD.

depends on where the PHD is at in their career. Alot of PhDs are TAs and RAs early in their careers making 30-40k...as they move up they make more and the ceiling is unlimited.

I feel like a HS earner with a diploma has pretty much hit the high ceiling....so I'd go with a PhD

Taking the $120k makes sense.

Problem is that you're relatively uneducated with an 8th grade reading level. All that money could get wasted on bullshyt. Like giving someone Lamar Jackson's athletic ability but not ever knowing how to play football.

PhD's are usually funded by the university and you get paid a small stipend
$18K stipend a year is very hard to manage. I had to take out student loans, and most of my classmates did too. A couple managed to take no student loans, so it’s possible. My brother, who is getting his PhD in Geology, is somehow managing to have no student loan debt either. I just couldn’t do it :yeshrug:

I thinks it's hard from some people to grasp that money is literally time.

If you went the uneducated route for 4 years you'd be able to educate yourself and come out way ahead of the phd.
