PhD making $40k a year vs Uneducated making $120K

The PhD is in a fulfilling study of your choosing that is rewarding

The Undeducated option. No HS Diploma or GED. 8th grade reading/math level. Job is not that fulfilling, but also not a horrible job


Both will not have their salaries change for the rest of their lives. Salary is fixed forever

The PhD for two reasons.

1) Salary is defined as compensation for work carried out. If I was earning 40k with a PHD, I would actually go down the self-employed route. I would pay myself a modest salary as company director, and then award myself dividends (which is not a salary) based on the performance of my company.

2) I want to be able to pass on knowledge to my children.
