They have several successful IPs And have 2 (one which is pretty new) IPs coming out summer Switch. What OP is trying to say, is that Switch took a risk with a whole new formatted style of the series, and it was the only top title they were gonna go with, that was also coming out for Wii U, so people could have just got it for the other system if they wanted to.

The only big title off the failure of their Wii U.
The Legend of Zelda arguably started out as an open world game

but even without that, making the new Zelda an open world game isn't exactly the most innovative or risky idea

and apparently they're going in a similar direction with Super Mario Odyssey

The Truth
Sony has stopped production on more franchises than Microsoft since ps3

Xbox has the better lineup of games. If you like the Asian hack/slashers that's cool and all but some of us find all that shyt silly :francis: This gen Sony has under delivered on every major franchise (why you giving this a pass) while every Xbox major title has over delivered. MC collection had issues the first two months? No one seemed to give a shyt when lbp didn't work right for a year, uncharted being plagued by glitches (is ok) they said MCC lost its chance because of the launch. How can old games miss a future? If you want to play the older halo games you can in1080p on Xbox one. FH3, Gears4, H5 all will be upgraded for Scorpio, state of decay, crackdown, sea of thieves, Cuphead, below, the unannounced games and the introduction of Xbox VR.

Nope, you'd rather play a game about some sexually repressed teen/demon with spiky hair :snoop: E3 will continue to hurt the feelings of the ignorant!
I laughed.... :mjlol:

But Persona is dope though:ufdup:

So

Reading between the lines is,we aren't going to pursue single player games anymore and are going to trend hop and make service based games.
what "service based games" does Xbox even have? when I hear that phase I think of something like Team Fortress 2 on PC

Zelda is Zelda, and it's definitely not a risk

the Switch's challenge is gonna be finding success outside of Zelda and Mario

Splatoon has proven to be a success and will see how arms does.

I know it did, and I didn't say it was innovative. The company tries different things all the time, and this is no different. They did it with splatoon, and now they're doing it with ARMS, but I'm not talking about MP games, I'm talking about the games Phil is on the fence with pursuing. SPs. If you're talking about some diff single player games for Switch other than Zelda and Mario, they're on the way, but I'm talking about the whole approach to this Zelda and and how they went about it.

People out here begging Nintendo to just make a powerful system like PSpro to push multplats (because multiplats push units), but this was the direction they took, and they pushed it with a new style of one of their IPs that's been the same linear model for years. I can't see how this isn't a risky move on their part.

I ain't even mad at Phil's approach thou, I say let him cook when he's ready.

The most struggle statement I ever heard. Just admit you can't risk affording to make a great game and keep it moving.
In today's internet, once a statement is made people will translate it into whatever they want it to be which is sad. He said those types of games don't sell well. Who here has Nioh and Nier, raise of hands  the Sony userbase keeps expanding but you guys will point to the same numbers and go :gladbron:

You nikkaz no nothing about busineas :stopitslime:

Microsoft said they wasn't gonna cater to those types of games, doesn't mean there won't be any. The witcher is the most popular game this gen so far. People acting like it's not on Xbox. I can tell you what's not on ps4 tho..witcher2, a game the majority of you never played. All future single player AAA multiplats Will be better on Xbox by default. Microsoft is smart enough to realize you guys don't REALLY give a shyt...

Microsoft is looking for the next big hit to milk like you're saying. When something is a modest success or just ok they simply drop it. Alan Wake would have got a proper sequel on Sony's side. Many of these one and done games would have. If they don't cultivate a proper lineup that's more than just their three biggest titles fans will continue to get frustrated as the wait between their last one and done game and the next one continues to grow.
And here yalls Sony stan narratives conflict.

On one hand y'all say "Microsoft doesn't let devs take risks, they just keep releasing sequels"

Then we have Microsoft fund this new IP with some new ideas and your argument turns too "Microsoft should have had them make a sequel of the last game"

Sony stans :scust:
