I think I now get what y’all were saying
I think because of Howard and DC’s long standing middle and upper class black population there historically may have been a highly visible light brite population
From what I’ve seen a lot of folks that’s families are from NW DC and families have been in DC for generations and cashed out during gentrification are lighter skinnt

Maybe DC natives can correct me

Why was that initially so hard to grasp, lol?

And it’s important to understand why they were in DC in the first place. Government jobs. If Philly has government jobs, they’d be in Philly.

I don’t know where they all live now. I would assume PG County? My family stays in Bethesda though.

Because y’all were making it seem like every one in DC and at Howard was mixed breeds

99% of posters and black people in general aren’t apart of the “elite”

Great place to spend a weekend, never come here permanently though. As a general rule, if you see somewhere where even the whites are struggling, it’s probably not great for black people either. Poor infrastructure, pot holes everywhere, police who don’t give AF, rude nasty people, NY castoffs everywhere

The one positive is there is a strong black community here though and a lot of us really only deal with other races at work (barely then tbh) before returning back to our respective communities. I prefer that over having to deal with all sorts of BS from ppl from other cultures

Just got back from my sister's graduation at Wharton.

Philly is a pretty cool city to be honest, I don't understand the hate the city gets, especially as someone living in another Northeastern City. Philly has the big city feel but at a mid-sized city price. Right in between NYC and DC. Also, If you're a young professional then there's a good network of young people courtesy of UPenn, Drexel, Temple and Villanova. :ehh:

I think where Philly kinda struggles is in its identity. If you're on the East coast and want the big city feel then you might as well do NYC. Everything you can get in Philly, you can also get in NYC. At least with DC, you got the government and all the think thanks and international organizations here which help define the city.

Side note: Saw this one chick in a Hijab + Abaya off Walnut Street. Ole girl had the biggest ass I've seen in the past year. Even nikkas in traffic where like :whoo:"Allahu Akbar" :wow:

You might see a couple can try hards around the PA/Maryland line sporting that loser flag but it ain't like the south

You could've shut that argument down some more by asking them about street names and high schools named after Confederate soldiers. And if they still wanna talk ask them about thier Confederate monuments.

I go through Detroit and Philly regularly for work and although Detroit gets shat on a lot I'd much rather stay in the suburbs of Detroit than the suburbs of Philly. Both cities are trashy but Philly is smelly and trashy combined with narrow roads and a bunch of one way streets that lead you over near that dirty ass dock area. But Detroit has decent suburbs, you get outside of Philly and it's hilly ass backwoods where one minute it's a forest and the next its Kansas farmland.
