But what is the alternative (other than internet rage)

And I'm not trying to be divisive...NOR am I trying to troll you. But we live in a litigious society where a lot of "matters" are handled within the courts.
The judges, attorneys, etc. look at these cases and try to do what is fair to the family retroactively. They look at settlements in other cases in other instances and try to come up with amounts that are "fair". They can't rewind time and give this man his life back, but they also aren't going to give his family 100 million dollars knowing that someone will say "100 million ain't shyt...they should've given them 200 million dollars"

In truth... NO amount of money is worth it. It's incredibly sad...I'm incredibly sensitive to his family, and watching the video had to be one of the most gut wrenching things I've ever seen

What can we do?

Work to change legislation...create propositions and petitions to change local policy and get measures voted on
Create lobby groups and donate to them so that they can influence policy
Vote (sadly ) locally
Get with local politicians and policy makers to create new and different policing protocols.

We need change, but often times it's not an "easy" thing. There is no answer that is going to change the mentality (either scared or racist or both ) of police officers overnight. Institutional change takes generations. We can fight the right way today in order to make things better for our children.
