I'd really like to be a fly on the wall listening to people convince each other that heroine was a good idea. I'm sure that they were already drugged out of their mind at that point but I bet it would've been a good and hilarious listen. The whole concept of it is just ludicrous.

What about those monkeys who were given nicotine and then starved to death because the scientists constantly gave them the choice of nicotine or food?

You simply can't say it's a inherited disease when the parents did it. If it were, there would be no addiction in people without an immediate family history of addiction.

And yes, I know the scientific research into genetics is there. But would they dare publish before and after reports in someone they addicted to a drug on purpose for comparison?

What kind of human goes their whole life without trying a drink or smoking some weed at some point? and it's not just drugs, you could get addicted to a lot of things (gambling, etc)

They've done studies with identical twins dude, 50% of addiction is caused by a genetic predisposition (other 50% is due to poor coping mechanisms). The children of addicts are 8 times more likely to become addicts themselves.
