it said he was clean for 22 years
who knows what happaned why he was injecting again.
Cigarettes and Heroin are very similar in that you never "quit"..You "stop"..It's always in you to relapse. From someone who used to smoke and hadn't smoked going on 6 years and my life is so far removed from that environment, it doesn't mean I'll never not smoke again. I still have in the back of mind, that I've done it before, felt good and survived so this time won't be any different. So him being clean for 22 years just goes to show what addiction is. It's a lifelong battle. It could have been something like being in an old dive bar where he used to get high kicking up nostalgic feelings, triggering a relapse to a death in the family.
Think about Peter Jennings
However, as some of you now know, I have learned in the last couple of days that I have lung cancer. Yes, I was a smoker until about 20 years ago, and I was weak and I smoked over 9/11
It's never over. Marijuana and Alcohol users suffer some of the same psychological dependency behaviors as well.
