The deal here is that the Pennsylvania state legislatures don’t want state tax dollars spent on Philadelphia.

In this case Philadelphia waste management, library workers, all sorts of critical municipal jobs.

The catch is that Philadelphia (and its suburbs, which don’t pay city taxes but don’t exist without the city) are the only ones contributing to those state tax dollars.

A tale as told as time :mjpls:

Cacs from the comfort of Reading or some shyt cockblock and skim money from Philly to fukk with them because of the main demographic "problem". Its always a civil war between the backwards state of PA and Philadelphia from the school district getting shytted on, to job development being halted along with the community programs that's forever gutted.

Sick fukking cacs that would rather treat Center City and the outskirts like the real Philadelphia, and fukk everything else.

With what vehicle? Are you assuming everyone has a truck or can afford to rent a truck? Also, are you ignoring that people are paying taxes for these services that are not being met? Seriously, are you trying to blame this issue on the citizens, instead of the disagreeing parties involved?
Yes. I am blaming them. The govt failing is no excuse to live with filth, vermin , and disease spreading outside your doorstep.

Yes, you are correct that we would prefer our government services to be working. The negotiations are ongoing with no end in site, and none of those households can affect that. No amount of righteous iindignation will give them the power to make those garbage men return to work. But they do have the power to move their trash.

Hence, my appeal to personal responsibility. I draw a parallel to your water main rupturing due to govt failure. Would you just throw your hands in the air and keep shting in nonfunctioning toilets, or would you relieve your waste elsewhere? I'd argue that this personal responsibility is the only thing that separates us from places like India where people throw their trash on the ground and then throw their hands in the air as if there's nothing they can do.

And Yes, every single American with a job can afford to rent a 20 dollar uhaul pickup truck for an hour of their week to eliminate the rodents, insects, parasites, and communicable diseases spreading at their door step. Surely this is a priority?

This ignores that suvs and pickup trucks have consistently been the number one selling cars in American parking spots and garages for a decade. I also find it mildly amusing that every single vehicle on that block in the original IG video is a truck, suv, or uhaul.

Even though this should not fall on the citizens, there are multiple temporary (and permanent) sites where people can take their trash while this dispute is being resolved.

Block clubs and organizers should coordinate box truck rentals for their neighborhoods and then send the receipts to the city for reimbursement. It will be a fight to get your money back but it’s worth it to show organization and community problem solving.

I thought the dispute was between the union and the city?

Is there no personal responsibility in Philadelphia?

In my county, normal civilians are perfectly capable of driving to the dump and just taking their trash there. Unless the landfill itself is shut down, there really is no excuse for just throwing it on the ground.

Many areas in the US probably don't allow people to do this, and some of these population dense big cities don't have landfills, they compact the trash and ship it somewhere else.
