He said he's cool with Pooh, you believe it?

Yeah he said another solo album will be dropping. Paraphrasing, "It's a rap album, that's only cuz I made one rap song for it so far"

LB fans got their fingers crossed lol. I'm not sure it'll be all rap, since he's maintained in the past he'll do what he feels like. Gotta expect some singing on there too

What turned you off? I thought it was strong, there's probably 3-4 songs I'm not a huge fan of, but I was glad to hear a solo project from him.

I don't know about anybody else, but when I heard/saw this, I was like "this nikka Phonte really on that saingin' shyt now." The singing really turned people off from him. This was right before Leave It All Behind dropped

I wasn't even made at the sangin' to keep it real

know why?

cuz the raps were REALLLLLLY fukking good breh

So i did a review of that album for the college newspaper, Phonte RT'd and everything. I was assuming that song, particular the outro, was implying he was gone take a hiatus from music.:why::pachaha:

Link for the article is dead, but it's somewhere on my external HD

I got a room and a microphone
And family that I ain't seen in months
And I played this record a million times, just hoping you would play it once
Ha, break bread with your fellow man
Show love but look out for your heart
And always take care of home
Because home is where charity starts
Because home is where charity starts
Home is where charity starts

@Motife43 I was glad to hear it as well which is why I was so hyped for it. Phonte isn't strong on this album and his overall attitude towards rap is annoying. His entire foundation is Hip Hop and he eschews it every time. I don't have to tell a huge fan like yourself how they (Phonte and Nicolay) try to distance themselves from Connected as if the fans are psychotic for wanting more of that music. The new Foreign Exchange material is wack and I didn't want to admit it but after time passed with CSAH, I realized that Phonte didn't bring it. He thinks very highly of his skill but that wasn't showcased. At least not up to repeated listens.

If he says he's cool with Pooh I don't see any reason to not believe him. I'd love it for a song to come together, but I'm excited for a new record from eather one of those guys no matter what. Pooh's new album with Nottz is a sleeper for the year (pun intended) and I'm excited for Phonte's new solo. Interesting interview. Not done with it yet.

EDIT: Hmmm, it is funny when Pooh recently said they weren't cool to Rosenberg, but I don't wanna get into gossip.

Lovin It was the first single from Atlantic. Good Clothes was on GetBack and they weren't on Atlantic at that time.
Yup. In hindsight they said they would've liked to have Slow It Down as the single, and Slow It Down or Say It Again were gonna be the follow up singles, and I believe there was a 12" released, but neither song got a video treatment or radio push from Atlantic.

Now I agree they distanced themselves from Connected. But I understand the method to the madness and I don't really trip. Maybe it's because I've followed him for a while and respect the journey of the whole JL. I used to read the Myspace blogs, chopped it up with him on The Lawn message board back in the day and checked out/acquired all the LB/Phonte/JL material since I found out about them in 06.

From the selfish, fan perspective, hell yeah I want to hear Phonte rap and Nicolay make beats a la Connected and Dutch Masters. But, they're on what they're on now.
