So I really want to get into the Photography blogging freelance game, but I don't know how to go about it as far as themes, revenue, and so forth. I did some random stuff on my IG, but I have come to the realization that I want to do more and I always wanted to get into the whole photography industry on the level of drawing people into my world. Give me some insight on how to go about it:ohhh::feedme:

Find a niche and get GREAT

Don't let your vices fyck up your business a lot of photographers end up ONLY trying to smash pretty girls and you'll get a rep easily

Hustle...if anything find someone in your city that is "on" or "trying to get on" and offer free services as you can. Build a reputation of good work before you just start trying to charge a bunch of money

I already got the niche' and even have ideas of how to go about my pictures. It's nothing on a glamorous level, but more so just vintage pics of city life, nature stuff, and coffee joints. Just some hipster shyt. This is just to get my name out there since I used to take random vids and pics with my PSP camera when I was up in Philly.

Ok you should get with established but on the rise "brands" in your area and become their photographer for free...no joke.

If there is a coffee company that is small and local, ask if you can take all of their pictures for IG, if you can shoot their branding photos, videos, etc. And if you do that well you can then go to a different company and show them your work and ask them for a quote (if it were me I would do it for 5 companies for free, but not everyone has that kind of patience)

There's like a IG page for the city that I am where they always share other's pics of the city and even hire folks. I really want to actually build a company because i'm tried of being a worker, but want to be my own boss and have my own terms. I don't want to do quotes yet because this is mainly to get my feet wet. Like how I do my music is how I want to do the whole photography approach.

  • Market
  • Give them a taste
  • Free 99 for a while
  • Build the brand
The five company for free idea seems like a plan with my approach, especially with some of the stores that popped up in my head.

I would go to 5 companies and say "Hey...I'm a freelance photographer...I'm looking to build my portfolio...I'd love to take some stylish pictures and videos that reflect your brand, and help you develop your overall branding strategy on IG, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Oh and I'm doing it for free :myman:

I want to dedicate maybe 10 hours a week shooting, editing and helping you guys with your brand strategy on social media"

Once you do that for a few companies, then you have a portfolio. and then you start hitting up other companies on IG and say... "here is what I did for ABCDE companies...I'd love to help you out" and that's how you start to get paying gigs

The bolded, photography business is 90% hustle 10% work. Do whatever you can to differentiate yourself and get your name out there. In the past 3-4 yrs, I landed my work in 10+ magazines. Also use social media, it's free advertising.

Like @..::..::.. said, pit stop by the photography thread, plenty of convo for building and growing in there.

Just know that shyt ain't the easy lane. The photography business is FLOODED and that's why you have a lot of pros out here teaching classes and selling books to supplement income. I just do it on the side, my main job is electrical engineering. You really gotta hustle
