Those systems aren't playing games at high settings now. That being said a low tier $400 PC will get far less mileage that a game console. We had some pretty decent looking console games come out last year. Yeah they were 720p but still would a $600 PC from 05-06 get the same results?

This is on a Geforce 8800 GTX, a card that's over 7 years old. 1680x1050 ~60fps is WAY better than what the PS3/360 versions were pushing.
Same card running Far Cry 3 on high settings.
An 8800 gtx by itself was way more powerful than a PS3 and damn near cost as much as one just for the card back then. That's not building a $600 PC back then and still having it run decent today.

What do you people not get? A PS4 cost $400 and the Xbox One cost $500. The guy that owns the Xbox One had more than enough money to cop the PS4 and passed on doing so. They aren't jealous of PS4 owners. Being a PS4 owner isn't part of some exclusive club they can't join. They flat out didn't want one. you getting in their face doing some sort of victory dance because you bought a console they didn't want is fukking stupid. We're all adults here. We buy what we want. We aren't kids that our mom and dad have to buy the only game console we can get and chose wrong.
Well things today are different from back then as PS3/360 were using newer hardware and lots of things were changing around that time such as expansion slots going from AGP to PCI express and DDR3.
And the other coin of this is people that own a PS4 couldn't buy an Xbox one?? You know damn well there's people that bought XB1's out of loyalty and or unable to find PS4's at the time of launch. PS4 owners aren't jealous of XB1 owners talking about watching cable through their console or other kinect gimmicks either.
I don't know what's gotten into you lately, but console "wars" isn't new and has always been around. You may not care for it but that's you, the whole console war thing keeps forums like these alive and it's pretty funny reading some of this shyt. If everyone agreed and respectfully disagreed on things on here, it'd be a very boring place. Even some of the PC gamers on here can turn on their stanning which lies dormant as soon as you mention something to the effect of AMD>>>>>> or Nvidia>>>>>>>>>>>>. It's just jokes man, relax a bit.

this is like watching a bunch of politicians argue. nobody is gonna admit fault, nobody is gonna conceded to the other side when they're right or wrong. its totally meaningless conversation. not anything near a real debate. i find it hard to believe you find a bunch of fanboys having one sided conversations spitting talking points back and forth enjoyable.
