I drive by playgrounds in D.C. and B-More all the time and see empty courts.. It was never like that when I was younger.. But gyms are filled to the brim all spring and summer with AAU teams at every age level, so I guess the game has just evolved to being more organized...

The biggest reason is kids have people in their ears telling them not to play outside because of their knees. That was the most common reason it seemed at least for the college kids.

Yeah that shyt is. Everybody wants to be a hustler, rapper or they lazy as shyt now. Some playgrounds in this city be empty as hell.

i doubt that's the reason.I grew up in the first Nintendo era. Cats came out to play ball. Don't know what it is now.Biggest reason for this is the emergence of video games. nikkas rather play 2K then dribble a real ball on a real court. It's just another proponent of the ever increasing obesity problem in America. This generation is lazy as hell. There's more convenience and ease in just staying in and browsing the internet or playing video games all day.
Dyckman is still poppin' though.![]()

kids still play. I see em all the time. That's true...
Society has just changed also.. When I was 8 my mom would send me to the store on my bike for cigarettes or let me leave the house at 9 in the morning and not come back until it was dark.. We were everywhere doing everything.. Hopping on city buses and the whole nine..No cell phones, Amber alerts or nothing.. I couldn't imagine letting my kids loose like that..Everything they do is organized and supervised...
