American Pit Bull Terriers (notice, it's not "Pitbull.") were up until very recently bred for ANIMALS AGGRESSION. Manbiters were generally culled from a young age along with cur's. The reason? Before dog fighting became the sport for hoodlums with no rules on corners, it was actually an established sport with rules. One of the rules of dog fighting was during the fight (some which would last hours,) inside the box would be 2 handlers and a referee. This was universal. So imagine two severely injured and hyped up dogs having to be repeatedly broken up during the match, and to allow themselves to be handled without turning their aggression towards the humans inside the box with them. Then afterwards medical attention had to be provided too. Basically what i am saying is the APBT was specifically bred to NOT EVER be aggressive towards humans, just other animals. So no, i will never agree APBT's were bred for "aggression," unless we specifically limit it to animal aggression. APBT's have no history of being used as guard dogs, attack dogs, human aggressive. That is GSD's, Rottweilers etc. How many other breeds will not snap at humans who just fought them till their legs snapped? Almost none. That is why they are so game and don't run from pain like cur breeds.
