A lot of passion over this topic, as is to be expected.
Simply put, the true and unbiased realities of this situation are as follows:
It was a tragedy what happened to the child
It was equally as tragic that she wasn't being properly supervised.
If these dogs "broke loose", then it is a gross irresponsibility on the owner's part to keep those dogs secure, and there must be some form of legal repercussion for it.
Regardless of how these dogs got loose, it is an irrational, unthinking, emotionally charged mistake to blame the breed of dog; demonizing pit bulls as some sort of 'evil useless creature'.
Statistics are all relative- and all agenda driven. You will get what you're looking for every time. The 'statistical argument' can be made just as much for pit bulls, as can be made against it.
And in the end nothing will come of it other than both parties finding themselves right back where they were in the beginning.. none the wiser.
And the breed still finding itself a helpless victim of typical human ignorance and incompetence.
We all would want to "fly into a rage and shoot up the whole house and dogs", if that were our loved one.
What separates men from women, though, is our(men) ability to reason; and to do so LOGICALLY, and devoid of emotion.
Many of you in here are males. Take a moment, take a breath, take another, and relax.
You just typed up a bunch of bullshyt

this is practical information. Yiu don't know where these beasts may be lurking.
