It's very easy to manufacture "hype" in the social media driven era we are in

It's worth it to a label to pay millions of dollars to bloggers and journalists to create "critical" acclaim

Atlantic is behind ALL these moves we've seen with Cardi and she's proving to worth the investment. None of this is just natural and happening on its own though :francis: it's all very strategically calculated with millions of dollars behind it.

Pitchfork's hip-hop reviews are hit or miss, just like everywhere else. As a publication, they prioritize what they see as innovation, taking chances, newness, freshness, etc. over everything else. That's why boom bap and some underground rap gets bad reviews on there, while drill, experimental stuff like the new Quelle/Jean Grae, trap, etc gets good reviews.

TBH, there hasn't been a reliable place for hip-hop album reviews since the late 1990s/early 2000s with The Source and XXL.

Only place I check out reviews. They been doing it for lk 8 years too

Been tryna tell muthafukkas on here about these publications when they was overhyping all that Kendrick shyt. Now yall see how crazy this shyt looks. Lol

I'm not replying to you Aubrey stans one by one. Y'all created this, gave him a pass, so now Cardi benefits from that :umad:

cacfork is trash but it's funny seeing you guys always resort to the great boogeymen of either drake or kendrick
