Good move but it shouldn't be allowed moving forward. The sliding rule is in place simply for the QB's safely if you compromise that then there should be no flag when an actual sliding QB gets popped by a defender

Dude, he wasn’t even close to making a full commitment to the slide. The defender at his side assumed he was gonna go in, but he didn’t. If he ain’t in full motion then a hit is fair.

A pump fake is not a give-up play like sliding is. A pump fake is still a real play defenses have to react to assuming it’s a pass. On the slide the QB is giving himself up & the defense had to let up because it’s a penalty if you hit a sliding QB.

Again, he wasn’t FULLY COMMITTED to the slide. If he ain’t in in motion with the leg moving forward and other angled back, he’s still running.
