When I fly internationally, I always try to get as much info as possible about the local airlines, especially in poor countries (typical make/age of planes, reliability of the airline, track record).
Some are better than others obviously but I avoid the small, obscure ones unless I have no choice.
Some Air Ethiopia planes got me sweating a few years ago, but they’ve upgraded their fleet and have a better track record now.
Bottom line: Every day we have almost 105k flights, 8 million passengers and only one crash per 1.2 million flights.
There’s no safer way to travel. You gotta be REALLY unlucky to get in a plane crash.
