Since the Destiny cologne thread was thrown in the bushes, this thread will discuss exclusive deals in general and how you feel about them.

Take Destiny for example, Sony and Activision has a deal in place which prevents Microsoft from advertising the game on their platform, this includes exclusive content which will remain PS exclusive for a year. Microsoft makes a cheeky retort with a cleverly designed website saying that something is fishy about that deal.

On the same token, Microsoft has a deal in place with Activision in regards to marketing Call of Duty games, and other similar deals in regards to Madden.

How do you feel about these deals, is it fair that just because you own a platform that is not being advertised, that you should pay $60 bucks for a game that you won't get the same content as a competitor platform? Do you feel that it's desperation for the platform holder to spend money on marketing a third party game that is better used to building a first party?

Try to keep it civil brehs.

(I may be asking for too much tho :lolbron:)

I thought someone already answered that in the bushes thread

here it is:
I responded to that. apparently those other platforms don't have an "entirely dedicated" server experience. still kinda shady, but it's understandable they don't don't want their competitors to be on some "me too" shyt, when they're really not offering the same thing

and you mentioned Madden

I'm not sure how much these "deals" really matter. I would have to see the numbers for the demographic of people that really are impacted by the advertisements to the where they are out buying games because of it. Sure it probably works on some casuals, but I doubt the hardcore stans are going to blink an eye at buying a game for the console that they least prefer or don't have.

Whatever helps the game sell, I'm down with it.

The fact that Destiny had an infomercial yesterday is great. Who cares if it is funded by Sony. It got prime time placement on a highly watched football game. Awareness has been out there but to the masses, it reached even more people yesterday.

I don't know the exact deal with EA and Microsoft over Madden, but the lack of Playstation when it comes to the advertising of Madden leads me to believe that there's a similar deal. Which is only natural seeing that Microsoft paid the NFL crazy amounts of money to exclusively advertise their system.

all that could have happened without preventing M$ from advertising the game too

I think it is working to a degree, I'm only speaking from personal experience so I don't know if it's true all across the board. Two guys I know are buying the white Destiny PS4 bundle just to play the game.... they already own Xbox Ones. But to guys like us who post here, yea... shyt doesn't phase us at all.

Idk I really don't care it's corny anyway ad just leads to less sales on another console . Hurts the developers in the long run.
