If somebody wanted to be schooled on Memphis rap and I only had one artist to sum it up with, it would be Playa Fly.

His last verse on "Nobody" is just :whew:...

I rather please you then tease you, please dont make me decease you
I believe instead of having you dead, I rather lyrically beat you
Have you hurting inside, and see some shame in your eye
And when your feet hit the street, you got the shytty look now
And you can't wash it away, cause on your face it will stay
Fly done gone off on the south, so get the fukk out my way
And Flizzy dusting you rascals who constantly giving me hassles
Graduated wit game, so to the right turn my tassal
When them playas from South Parkway funk and smoke up plenty fire
Ain't no love shown but to those who down till we die
Dying won't stop us, in the ground we'll be rocking
Colliding plates, causing quakes, and plenty twisters we dropping
We ain't taking violations, we taking over the planet
You rather be crossing your bosses than fukking with a playa goddamn it
I be in it to win it before you 'bout it
Im out
And I be in to the finish, I've been doing without you bytches

:wow:

The biggest travesty is not getting a proper Paul & Juicy produced Fly album...

Mane, we definitely got robbed.

Can you imagine collaborations with him, Skinny Pimp, and Lord Infamous spitting over of that mid-90s bass-heavy, lo-fi spooky Paul & J shyt?? :banderas:

I know he fell out with 3-6 but I always shocked that there weren't more collaboes with Skinny Pimp. Those 2 goin back and forth on tracks woulda been crazy.

Pretty sure he's still on that shyt too..

Oh no doubt. Fly ain't got no shame about it either. Said the Funkytown hand sign with the thumb and pinky is an allusion to his habit. He's on it most of the time when he's recording.Talks about it in this interview..

Makes sense when you go back listening to some of his lyrics. Like on Triple bytch Mafia when he says...

"I hear you mention Funkytown but never touched a fukkin sack"

"I'm stayin crunk, I'm full of funk, and I ain't barrin' no tricks"

I throw I-B-N in rotation every couple months, Movin On is a dope album. I ain't heard the rest of his stuff, what's his best album aside from that one?

Me personal favorite is Fly shyt. I like Fly rapping over that lo-fi, bass heavy production. He has a rugged voice so it gives you that underground feel. Plus he has the most collaboes with his pops Bill Chill (R.I.P.) singin on this one.

Da Game Owe Me
is where he started rapping over more polished beats. Probably his best one lyrically too.

Fly and Gangsta B were Cold as hell, but neither have an album better than Skinnys - King of Da Playaz Ball.

I don't know man. I LOVE KOTPB but I think I prefer "Can It Be?" more...Blac snapped all over that whole fukking album and that shyt has a sound unlike no other tape from them IMO. I think it's their best produced tape period. Them beats are still crisp as fukk in 2017.

KOTPB is better than Can it Be. Can it Be was hard but def had some skippable tracks, KOTPB rides from front to back.
