As someone whose around kids through volunteering and mentorship, WLR is considered a great album to many of them, and THATS OKAY. This new generation has different taste and what they deem is acceptable/talented. Carti is on some punk/rock star shyt to these kids. It has nothing to do with age since the sounds Carti is biting from is from older eras (nu metal, punk rock, industrial rock). I know a ton of young nikkas who hopped off the Carti train with WLR because they want that Die Lit sound. Some have circled back to now rock with the album but lets not make this an age thing or rewrite history.
This would make sense if younger kids actually grew up in this era. And carti’s aesthetic is a bite off punk. His music doesn’t really have nu metal influence at all. Weezy and F1lthy production doesn’t even have a numetal sound lmao. He’s just trying to be a rockstar on some marilyn manson shyt with the way he dresses and acts. Kinda like how uzi was shifting towards. Please post some reference tracks of Carti with a numetal/punk sound.
It has everything to do with age because you go to his concerts and its mostly 18-22 year olds. My little cousin was just at rolling loud for his set. He’s NOT for old nikkas.

Also there are CLEAR nu metal influences in WLR up to this new rockstar song he just premiered lol. Marilyn Manson is nu metal adjacent which all leads back to industrial rock (Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails).

1. 27 is not old. How long you’ve been a game has no bearing on your biological clock. A 23 year old could be in the game since 13, that still doesn’t mean he’s old. 27 is old in rap. Uzi, for example, had a whole schtick that when he turned 27 he was going to join the 27 club because he didn't want to be old lol. Sorry to tell you that. And 10 years is relevant because the people who first listened to Carti in 2013/2014 are now 27-35. I went to the first ever Carti show (with Pollari and Awful records) and graduated in the same HS system a class above so I'm not speculating like you are. The old/young babble to describe why Carti is polarizing is quintessential dumb nikka logic.
