Right now or this holiday, if you're buying a game console, you should buy a PlayStation 4. The game selection on both consoles is about equal, and the benefits the Xbox One offers outside of gaming currently aren't worth the extra dough. Even if you're all about live TV or fantasy sports, $500 is prohibitively expensive for a device that specializes in either (or both, for that matter).

The situation will change as time goes on, of course. When Titanfall launches in a few months, the Xbox One gets its must-own game and the PlayStation 4 is still missing that big system-selling hit. And prices will drop, and broadcasting will arrive, and any number of other things could change the equation. You're not making a mistake buying either console right now, but if you're looking for the best game console of the two to buy this holiday, the choice is clear. And, thankfully, less expensive.

:wow: that's just the summary, pretty good full review

:wow: not what I was expecting

Wait, so they said xbox offers more than gaming, pretty much saying ps4 don't do shyt but play games, but $100 extra is a deal breaker? They do realize that the $100 is for the Kinect, which even when half ass working is still a better option than spending $100 later on a eyecam that hasn't been shyt since ps2, right?

Tell me again whats the main reason you'd buy one of these devices for? The Kinect is part of the system breh, so its not a extra anything. Thats like saying the PS4 would be $300 if it came with no controller and cables, its a package deal.

I fukks with the PS4..but thats a terrible article. Sad...upon the departure of Topolosky, Engadget has been getting murdered by theVerge to me

It's like Xbox One gets dinged for offering more than just gaming, while STILL bringing the games. Imagine if cell phones were reviewed like this :mindblown:

Not quite. The main thing i took away from the article is that its extra features are not yet worth 100 extra dollars. It is poorly written though, as the author mentions remote play as a plus but does not mention the cost of a Vita, nor does he mention Killer Instinct 3

Its funny how these reviews keep saying the X1 offers alot more then the ps4 but then turn around and say the ps4 is better lol

This is just like nexus fanboys claiming the nexus>>>>>>> Note when the nexus dont have half the features and the specs are about the same

The Verge has been killin it. I guess Josh took Vlad with him, cause once he disappeared from the Mobile Podcast I basically dipped on the whole site.

I think what it comes down to is that at the end of the day your not spending 400/500 for these added features, its about the games. And in that case you really can't make an argument for a console thats more expensive and less powerful.

The value of the Ps4 is just better for a gamer.

X1 has some great features but u need addtional services to use them. If u dont have cable its useless for all the tv features. If u dont play online. U still have to pay online fees just to watch netflix and other things. I aint gon front i am a ps4 buyer. But those extra features dont grab me as much as a system that is by far more stronger. With a better history of games. Its a no brainer to me PS4 all the way.
